Diamante has one of the only two islands in Calabria, the island of Cirella, a small islet with a suggestive shape where the seabed is splendid and the silver Posidonia reigns. Different sources document settlements since the times of the Phocians and the Romans. The first news of a real inhabited nucleus in the places of Diamante dates back to 1500.

Diamante is known as the city of murals, with numerous paintings that can be admired while walking through the alleys of the town. The idea of the "Murales", around 110, is due to the painter Nani Razzetti, Milanese but adopted by Diamant, who proposed to the mayor of the time the project to revitalize the historic center. The Murales Operation, which began in 1981, brought eighty-three painters from Italy and abroad to Diamante, who began to paint the walls of the historic center.

Teatro dei ruderi Cirella Diamante

To see the ancient "Cerillae" rich in history and important architectural testimonies. Perched on a small promontory, it is formed by the ruins of the town and other important buildings. Walking through its narrow streets is like taking a step back in time. You can still admire the remains of the castle built by Prince Carrafa in the eighteenth century, the convent of San Francesco di Paola dating back to the sixteenth century and the ruins of the church of San Nicola Magno, inside which traces of frescoes can still be seen.
