Isola Dino Praia a Mare

Maratea also known for the Statue of the Redeemer located on the summit of Mount San Biagio, overlooking the historic center. It was completed in 1965, with a mixture of cement mixed with Carrara marble, by Bruno Innocenti, a Florentine sculptor, based on an idea by Stefano Rivetti. With its approximately 22 meters high, it is the tallest statue in Italy and the sixty-sixth tallest in the world, as well as the most famous monument in Maratea. & nbsp;

Grotta Azzurra Praia a Mare

It depicts Christ the Redeemer, after the Resurrection, in an iconography very different from the traditional one. In addition, a particular optical effect means that observing it from a distance it seems to look at the sea, instead it looks towards the mountains of Lucania. It is also called "the city of 44 churches" for its numerous churches, chapels and monasteries, built in different eras and styles, many of which represent a notable artistic-religious heritage.

Località Fiuzzi Praia a Mare

On 10 December 1990 the President of the Republic Francesco Cossiga awarded the municipality of Maratea with the honorary title of "City", a title that the town had already boasted since 1531 by decree of Charles V of Habsburg. It extends for about 32 km on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its coast, set in a singular geographical and environmental position, is variegated with inlets and caves, rocks and shoals. The coastal beaches are numerous and characteristic, in front of one of which the island of Santo Janni emerges.
